Every once in awhile I like a movie so much that I have trouble coming up with exactly what to say about it. But I’ve stared at the blank space for this review long enough, so let me at least give it a try. It’s entirely possible that if you don’t care for baseball that you won’t care for this movie, either. On the other hand, there’s something transcendent about the tale of Oakland A’s GM Billy Beane’s efforts to turn an underfunded team into a championship contender. Brad Pitt overplays his role in a spot or two (and he’s begun to resemble Benicio Del Toro when shot from the wrong angle), but that’s a small price to pay for such a well-scripted, well-shot and generally delightful experience.
