  1. I guessed correctly about Crinkums. I have no idea how I knew it (it was the only one I knew). Perhaps that is what killed me in a previous life.

  2. The history of "crinkums" traces back to Shakespeare's time, so in theory you could have been felled by this dread scourge in five or six previous lives.

    Dictionaries also suggest "crinkum crankum" as a variation.

    And as long as I'm following up, I should note that "fire ship" is actually slang for a woman with an STD, not the disease itself. And "nimgimmer" is a doctor who specializes in treating STDs.

    Okay, that's enough disgusting etymology for one evening.
